No, not that. Get your mind out of the gutter. I am talking about Lost Boys: The Tribe. The second Lost Boys movie has just recently made its direct to DVD debut.
The movie is the continuation of Edgar Frog’s (Corey Feldman) vampire killing adventures (many years later). Thankfully, Corey Haim does not reprise his role of Sam Emerson from the first film. Well, not until the end credits at least.
The film has many “shout outs” to the first movie. Such as antlers hanging on a wall, a shirtless man playing the saxophone, lines about vampires needing to be invited in, the you will never die or grow old line and a few other things that fans of the first movie will undoubtedly catch.
Without going into too much detail, the plot line is rather obvious and follows a similar progression path as the first film did. This film (at least the unrated version) is much more bloody and has some very nice vampiress T&A..
If you go into it with the knowledge that you saw and enjoyed the first one 21 years ago when you were younger and try to apply your same likes and dislikes to this one, you may walk away again enjoying it. If you are looking for something new, fresh and inspirational from the vampire genre, this is not the film for you.
Angus Sutherland plays the lead Vamp role in this film. He is Kiefer Sutherland’s half brother and does a decent job at it in parts. But, if we take a look at the original film, the acting was not all that great there either.
All in all, if you enjoyed the first film, I would recommend seeing this one. While it is not a “you have got to see this now!” type of film, it is in many ways a “must see” for any Lost Boys fan.
The film also has a decent soundtrack (as did the original) and even includes Airbourne.
